Okami - Shiranui Legend Chart

Horizontal is time. Vertical groupings of lines indicate which characters are together at a given time.

Heavily inspired by an xkcd comic and similar charts about story narratives, I am now working on one for Okami. This particular page is of the events a hundred years before the main story of the game. I'm probably going to do it in segments since the game is very very long and these things can be time-consuming. I don't have much time to do them so don't expect another one in a while. I'm just seeing how far this goes.

I may miss a couple of things and a quite a few minor characters but I know won't be able to fit the dozens of characters onto one strip.

I think doing this is proof that I'm a little bit too obsessed with this game.

Here's a little rundown for those who are a little confused about the story:

Some sort of cataclysm happened to the Moon Tribe that rendered them practically extinct and caused Waka to flee in the Ark and he later landed on the Celestial Plain and stayed for a time. When Orochi attacked the Plain, Waka evacuated the Celestials onto the Ark while Amaterasu/Shiranui drags Orochi down to Earth. Then the passengers on the Ark get slaughtered and the ship crashes on Earth, leaving Waka as the survivor who goes into hiding.

Sometime after, Shiranui meets up Ishaku, watches over Kamiki village, and gets in a few fights with Nagi and becoming thought of as a demon. When Amaterasu and Issun come back from the future to find Lika, they are mistaken for Shiranui. Shiranui somehow finds out that her/his future self needed help so s/he goes to the future through the Gate to help her fight the clockwork demon owl brothers. I do not know if they left before or while Amaterasu is fighting the Orochi of the past. Shiranui was not present until Orochi was defeated by Amaterasu and Nagi(and after Oki tries to kill it but fails miserably). Shiranui came back from the future just in time to save Nagi from a falling rock and Nagi carries him back to the village where the wolf dies and everyone from the future returns to the present though the Gate.
